Florida Kratom Consumer Protection Act 
Since federal lawmakers haven’t specifically regulated kratom, Florida is stepping up. Right now, the Florida Kratom Consumer Protection Act is advancing through the House and the Senate. This bill is similar to many across the U.S., led by the American Kratom Association (AKA). The group wants kratom to be legalized and standardized across the country. 
Under the act, only customers over 21 could purchase kratom products. The bill would also limit the level of certain alkaloids that could be present in items. Also, lawmakers want manufacturers to label packages with serving-size suggestions. Plus, sellers would be prohibited from marketing kratom as a cure or treatment. Additionally, businesses would be required to register their products with Florida to ensure safety.
Businesses that violate any of these rules could face fines of up to $1,000. The bill would give the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services the authority to regulate kratom products. The department would have greater oversight over testing and inspecting products to ensure they are unadulterated and safe for consumers.
