Oregon State Legislature Eyeing Kratom Regulation
Oregon is one of the latest states to regulate kratom. The state’s legislature wants to establish new kratom regulations to keep it safe to better protect consumers. Why the big push? There have been numerous stories and anecdotes of companies selling inferior kratom products, which can adversely affect consumers. The new legislation would do two things: increase the purchase age to 21 and improve labeling.
Must be 21+
Under the House bill, there would be a minimum age for customers to buy kratom. Since there’s not a lot of research on how kratom impacts younger people, many parents, advocates, and legislators have pushed for age restrictions. Oregon wants folks to be 21 and over to purchase. As a result, the new bill would keep kratom out of the hands of underage teens and young people.
Improved Labeling
With new labeling, consumers get a better idea of what is and is not in their kratom products. More safeguards provide customers the assurance that their kratom is free from contaminants and adulterants.
